A Winter Day

The new year has come and gone, and Winter has shrugged her grey and icy blanket over all.  If you look carefully, you can see the Christmas lights and some of our ornaments reflected in the window.

After dark, the tree glows in reflection...

The tree is down now for another year; the stockings removed from the mantle, and the days becoming almost imperceptibly longer.  Good days to read a book from the library, or start a new project.

Allegra is my hint of spring in the bleak midwinter.  May we all find something to cheer us :-)

  1. What a sweet little doll! She makes me smile! I wish I could embroider like you...I suppose a little practice would help!

Are her eyes embroidered or are they buttons?

    1. Thank you, Linda; the eyes are indeed embroidered. Practice does help to make perfect. Also, you could do the embroidery on the doll before you stuff her; some find this easier than embroidering on the finished doll.

  7. I keep thinking I have left a comment and then found out I hadn't! I obviously think about it, get distracted and then forget.

So glad so see your new creation, she is looking as lovely as ever and I especially love the butterfly on her chest being a butterfly lover here.

  8. Beth,

It looks like you're having similar as we're having in Portland, Oregon. The only thing that cures the "winter blues", or as I call it, the "after Christmas let down", is another fun project to work on. Looks like you've found one!
